Daewoo Cielo

Daewoo Launched Cielo as its first car in India. Daewoo Cielo was a fully loaded sedan offering Automatic transmission with many add ons. Daewoo Cielo's interiors were a class of its own at that time. Daewoo Cielo was truely a sedan much ahead of its time. Daewoo motors continued producing Cielos till about 2003 when its financial problems agravated in South Korea. Daewoo Cielo's last version was launched with CNG version in 2002.

The car that was ahead of times

One of the first true blue mid segment car Daewoo Cielo was launched in 1994. Truely ahead of its time the car came with all the goodies like power windows, rear defogger, Auto transmission, power antena etc. Amongst its major positive aspects was a very powerful AC. It has a collapsiable steering, crumple zones, 3 stage bumpers, fog lights, defogger, side impact bars, tachometer etc just to name a few.
It was a pure fun to drive as the car had ample power to leave its competetion far behind. Way back in 1994 it came with a price of 7 Lakhs which was steep by any standards. People at that time used to milage of Maruti were a little unhappy with the car as it would turn only 9 and 13 kms per litre in city and highway respectively. Not to mention all those who opted for Auto transmission could manage only 7 to 10 kms per litre. Sad but true the cost of petrol has always troubled car owners.
The only fault of the car was that it was 5 years ahead of its time. So it had to pay the price of negative canvassing and financial debacle of the parent company in Korea.
Now these cars have run out of their life. With growing scarcity of spare parts and the advent of flashy cars many of the owners find themselves lucky if they get 40k for their second love which they nurtured over years.
